#stylepost - Hair play... Flowers and Hoops

It's fair to say that I'm a one hair style kind of girl.
Maybe on a Monday morning my hair will see a ponytail but not the big, bouncy, volume type... no... It's a lot more like the 'I didn't wash my hair last night' kind... And maybe once every blue moon I'll venture to a plait.

Because of this some might say lazy habit with my hair I'm always on the look out for hair accessories but however much I love the hair scarves, cottons bows etc. number 1 they just don't suit me and number 2 I can't master the hair scarf trick... trust me, I've tried plenty!

So browsing on the internet this week I've found two dream accessories that are wiggling their ways into this seasons trends.

Firstly and least likely for me but oh so dreamy is the hair rose from Dolce and Gabbana at MFW.
It being a tribute to Spain is enough for me to love it as well as the matador inspired outfits and Flamenco polka dots on show giving me flashbacks to Cordoba, feria and sevillanas.
So...
Loosen the buns, downsize the flower and wear with something simple and I think the hair flower could work day-to-day.

Second of all a little less romantic and something I can't wait to try out are the Aeon hair rings by Regal Rose. They're Rodarte SS15 for us tame ones and they're inexpensive... €14 on Asos for international buys and from £8 on REGALROSE.COM. They come in both gold and silver and pack size depends on the hair length you have. For people like me that wear their hair down come rain, snow or sunshine and need a bit of a mix up when it comes to Friday night hair then they look perfect.

As soon as pay day comes, they'll be in my basket.

#beautypost - Bicycle friendly updo's

So...

I've made it through the wind, rain, hail and nippy temperatures on my bike the last few Winter months and my hair was a trouper. Those pesky hair bands and hair clips were nowhere to be seen thanks to my (extremely ugly, puffy and oversized) raincoat protecting me from the wind and rain.

Now, I'm usually a fan of having my hair down, mainly because it adheres to my 'more time in bed' motto, and thankfully a Winter on my bike didn't ruin this too much. Although I'm sure the story would have been different if I was still living in Manchester.
Cordoba wind and rain is not Manchester wind and rain.

But now that we're getting stuck into April I thought that there was finally some light at the end of the tunnel... the days of me wondering what state I would be in when I arrived to work were over. But as you've probably guessed, that was until I realised that the heat of Southern Spain might be even crueller than the last few months.

They don't call Cordoba 'the frying pan of Spain' for nothing.

This week has been the first real week of nice weather so far, it's 27 degrees, the sky is clear and there's a perfect breeze... and it's going to get a lot hotter. Therefore, when I arrived at work yesterday afternoon, hopping off of my bike with a rosy red face, flat and frizzy hair and having the feeling that somehow my jeans had melted themselves onto my legs, it was then that I realised that the 'hair flowing in the wind' was not going to work.

I need hairstyles and I need them fast.
So, after a nosy on Pinterest I've found some low maintenance inspiration to keep my hair (and general work look) at bay.

#stylepost - Whistles Shoes & Accessories SS14

I've always been a big fan of Whistles.
( I was an even bigger fan during the Manchester Outlet years but I'm slowly coming to terms with that loss)
The prices can be quite high-end and not something you'd spend on a weekly/monthly basis but their quality is 'failsafe' and they do iconic dresses like the French do Petit Fours.
They come up with guaranteed timeless pieces season after season, the fabrics are always luxury quality and, although they are trend led, they never stray too far away from our beloved British style.

After a nosy at their recent 'Brand Day' it seems that this season they've put a lot of love into their shoes and accessories range... it's screaming Sandro with a play on fabrics and it's doubled my 'to buy' list.

Just picture a cross between Hanneli Mustaparta's wardrobe, a flamboyant flamingo and a dash of J.W. Anderson.

#stylepost - Metallics & Coloured Leather Spring '14

I think that I'm a little late on the metallic bandwagon but better late than never eh?

I always saw it as a Christmas trend, something to sparkle in front of the fairy lights, but now I'm finding it hard to say goodbye. As it's still only January I'm still sticking within the Winter guidelines (minus the boozy Christmas parties) but I know, as Spring will soon dawn on us, I need to find a new way of wearing metallics...

It's fair to say that during January/February my days are spent lounging in a pair of Topshop jeans (that's after prising my pyjamas off of myself) and after having seen Versace's SS14 spread in DAZED digital I'm now definite that my jeans aren't going to budge. Even better, Versace are also repping pastel leathers this Spring/Summer.
I couldn't think of anything easier than throwing on a t-shirt and leather jacket, especially with some of H&M and Zara's versatile, key pieces.

If you're looking for a cheaper option after the party season then keep your outfit simple and opt for metallic eyes or nails. Team with jeans and a thick knit jumper or even reuse your party blazer and a white tee... keep your hair loose or shove the top half straight up with a crocodile clip for a fresher look.
